Happy New Year

We are still In January so haven't left it too late to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR...

We have had such a good start to 2012 here at Dove Photography that my feet don't seem to have touched the ground. I am loving the fact that wedding bookings for this year have already surpassed last years. A big thank you to all our customers past present and future, you make me a very happy photographer.

I haven't made any actual New Years resolutions, but I have some goals for 2012 that I want to share..
Apparently (for those of you who believe it) if you write down your goals and revisit them regularly they are more likely to come into fruition.

I want to make Dove Photography the place to have your photos taken because of the amazing photos, but also the amazing customer service.
I want people to be talking about how good their experience with Dove..
I want to make some fab videos that help customers with their posing for weddings and portraits (that could be difficult as I usually end up giggling).
I want to write my blog every week ... (That is a difficult one)..
I want to help make money for 'Brian House' the childrens Hospice in Blackpool. They do an amazing job under very difficult circumstances and need as much help as they can get.
I want my new website to be up and running (which is proving harder than I thought, not everyone is dedicated to customer service...).

Prepare for your Winter Wedding

Its getting closer to my favourite time of year... Christmas.... OOOhhh... I get so excited...
My Christmas cake is in the oven as I write, I am designing my Dove Photography Christmas cards and planning my Christmas shopping.
No bah-humbug for me!!

This year we have 5 weddings booked around Christmas and New Year, and I for one cannot wait.

However.. Its important to be prepared for your winter wedding.

Here are a few tips (off the top of my head) to help you.

If you want photos outside, book your wedding earlier in the day, In the UK it goes dark in December around 3pm. This can be an advantage if you are having Fireworks, as you don't have to wait until midnight to thrill your guests with an amazing display.
If you are getting married in the North West try http://www.mdlfireworks.com - amazing customer service and brilliant firework displays.

I know it sounds daft to mention it, but, you need to keep warm, you dont want goose bumps on your wedding images.

Make sure you and your bridesmaids have warm shawls or stoles to put over your shoulders

Try and wear comfortable shoes that keep your feet dry & don't soak up the snow/rain .
Maybe buy some of those fab wellies that are available nowadays and keep them handy 'just in case'. I have it on good authority that you can now buy White Ugg Boots, now that would be a talking point!!

What about some gorgeous long gloves to keep your fingers warm, and some (lovely) Bridget Jones style underwear to keep the rest of you comfy and snug.

Most photographers (me) take umbrellas as a matter of course, but, make sure you have plenty available for guests. Photos can be really good fun and colourful with some of those golfing umbrellas.

The photos would look cool if all the men wore matching scarves and maybe gloves.. rather posh I think!!!

Whatever happens, make sure you are comfortable with having your photos taken outside whatever the weather... Imagine, you could dance and sing in the rain... throw snowballs if its a white wedding, guests could make a snowman and put the tophat on it... etc...

There is nothing you can do about our wonderful British weather, just embrace it, choose your photographer wisely and most of all.. HAVE FUN!!!

Getting ready for Christmas presents..competition

Those of you who know me know that I am not the most organised of people, and prefer to be known for my artistic flair. Ha ha.

Today, I am being organised...
It's 1 st September, and before we know it, it will be nearly Christmas, my cunning plan is to motivate you all into getting your Christmas portraits sorted out NOW!!!

This year I'm going to have personalised Xmas cards from Dove Photography, I now have to decide on what image will front my cards. This is tricky for me, as I have so many lovely images to choose from...but... Should it be a wedding photo, portrait, baby? Probably not a Boudoir photo as it will be on someone's mantlepiece for a month... I don't want to upset anyone ha ha I think my best plan is to have a montage of one from each category, with a Christmas feel...

Now, what would you like on your own personalised cards?
Maybe the kids, all dressed up for the cold or with a silly hat on.

Maybe the dog with a silly hat on?
Perhaps Grandma in her best Christmas outfit...
Only you will know what will make your family and friends go awww...bless...

If you are in business, why not personalise your cards with photos of your staff, send them out to your customers as a way of saying thank you, and also reminding them who you are and that you can let your hair down and send a unique personalised card.

Have you decided what you are giving as a Christmas present?

Perhaps you could give a 20 x 16 box framed photo of your family, or a beautiful album.
Maybe you would like a modern black and White portrait to grace your Walls, or a poster type (Andy warhole style) of the kids for your office or modern study.

Give it some thought, there are some amazing acrylics, frames, canvas,s available to excite you. Give me a ring if you would like to book a session, or even if you can think of any other themes you could use my photography for.

Wedding in Cyprus

Last Friday (10th June 2011) I was in Cyprus shooting a fabulous wedding.

Caroline and Tom have planned this to the last detail for the past 12 months and it showed, everything went to plan and it was perfect.
There is no doubt it helps that the bride is so laid back she is almost horizontal and the groom is mesmerised by her.
They were a joy to photograph as their personalities totally shone through (as you can see on the photos below).

When they booked the wedding, Caroline assured me that her and Tom were up for anything, and that (as a surprise) they were thinking of jumping into the pool as soon as they had finished the wedding breakfast, I couldnt believe my luck.. a trash the dress on the day... whoop woo.

The plans only changed slightly so that Caroline was going to be thrown into the pool by the best man and her new husband, as the groom was concerned about his suit.

I told the guests that Caroline was having some posed photos taken if they would care to watch as they were finishing desert, everyone laughed and smiled and then ... OH NO...

3 ....... 2 ....... 1

In she went... the guests couldnt believe it and were laughing and shaking their heads until they realised that Caroline loved it, then they were hysterical...
LETS ALL GO IN went the cry.. sure enough, most of the guests ran to the side of the pool, took off belts, shoes, bags, emptied pockets and ...

3 ....... 2 ....... 1

In they jumped (photos to follow).

The guests, bridesmaids, best man, groom... erm groom...what about your suit????? ha ha.. no worries Ill just change...

Caroline dried her dress off in the sun and put it back on later to go to the beach.. WOW!!

Off to the 50s style diner for a strawberry milkshake and some more photos.

What a fantastic wedding... Thank you Caroline, Tom and all your family and friends for making this one of the most exciting weddings I have ever been to, oh, and for inviting me and Jonathon to Cyprus to be your photographers.

Beautiful Red Spanish Wedding Dress

Well, I've finally got around to blogging about my lady in red... Janine.

Janine and Jamie got married in November 2010. What a fab young couple, they arrived from Spain to celebrate their wedding with family and friends. When I got to the hotel, Janine ushered me into the bedroom with strict instructions not to say... WOW!!!

I must say, I thought, Ive seen lots of beautiful dresses and they are all wow, so what is different about this one...

I went into the bedroom and immediately said...WOW... ha ha... Ooops sorry Janine, I couldn't help myself!! She had kept it a secret from everyone except her mum, not even the bridesmaids knew about this gorgeous red wedding dress.

Needless to say, Janine looked amazing, and with her fabulous bubbly personality she totally suited the red, I couldn't have imagined her in any other colour. Both Jamie and Janine are entertainers, and entertained us all on their wedding day. Everybody enjoyed the whole day, and by the end of the proceedings, I felt that I had made new friends. Thanks Janine, Jamie and both of your lovely families

Asian Wedding Fayre, Haans Hotel Blackburn

This weekend I attended my first Asian Wedding fayre with Dove Photography Blackpool. I took my beautiful Asian wedding album with me and I'm glad I did, it got lots of attention,

At first the wedding fayre seemed slow, but, as it went on until 7pm it didn't really matter, and gave all the exhibitors time to chat and get to know each other. I can honestly say, I have never been to a fayre before where everyone was so friendly.

In true Sheila fashion, I went around ooohing and ahhhing at all the glorious materials, stroking (sad I know) and touching the amazingly colourful and embroidered fabrics as I went along.
I was next to a lovely couple who own http://alishbaexclusivdesigns.com/ they sold fabulous fabrics in packs to make a dress, leggings and shawl.. I was drooling over the textures and colours, and the fact that you could have an outfit made for less than £50 in total.. wow!!!
On the other side was www.simplychocolicious.co.uk her homemade white chocolate and mango chocolates were amazing, and I savoured a few (lol), then spent the rest of my money on choccies for my mum for mothers day. Those of you who know me know that there is less than a 50/50 chance of those chocolates lasting till mothers day!!!
I also met a wonderful lady with 4 children like myself who was just lovely. She oozed personality, love of business and family values, we got on like a house on fire.. :-) She definitely needs a mobile website and some social media help, I'd love to see her succeed in her chosen business, so I'm going to see her next week www.socialmediabuddies.co.uk

Well, its Christmas Eve and Santa is on his way, I hope you have all been good, and get exactly what you want and deserve.

Blackpool Boudoir for REAL women.. 2nd blog!!

In my earlier blog, I mentioned the Boudoir Party held by Rachel, and showed a few photos of her, now I'm moving on to Gemma!!!

Gemma brought all sorts of props, Anne Summers must have had a field day...
gorgeous underwear, a pair of fluffy handcuffs, we had a beautiful fan and a fab feather Boa, long gloves & amazing shoes wow... fantastic!!

We had a great time, and Helen my lighting assistant (a good Catholic girl) was lighting all sorts of poses, ... the quote of the night had to be...
"perhaps we could handcuff her to the bed"? lol... (followed swiftly by 2 Hail Marys ha ha).

Boudoir Parties are all about having fun and enjoying yourself, they are also an amazing confidence booster as you actually have to face up to the fact that you DO look good (nearly) naked.
Gok Wan had the right idea with his How to look good naked series, I think every woman should have a Boudoir shoot and see herself as others see her.. Beautiful!!!

Anyway, enough of the chat, lets get down to some of the photos.

Gemma is more than happy for me to show her pictures, so here goes.

When you have your Boudoir party, or individual Boudoir shoot, you can bare as little or as much as you dare. There is no pressure at all, its how comfortable you feel that is important!!

Boudoir and Pin up Photography for REAL women, recent photos.

Oooh, so many things to blog about today, I thought I'd start with the fabulous Boudoir Party hosted by Rachel in Blackpool last week.
The party was a combination of a virgin vie and a boudoir party and attended by 8 guests, all real women, most without the confidence to participate in the boudoir party. However, after the photos of the 3 ladies wanting their photos taken had been shown to the rest of the group, 2 women wished they had had theirs taken, and decided that it would be better for them to have a private session at home.

My Lighting assistant Helen and I prepare the room with gorgeous bedding and sumptuous materials, and the girls prepare what they are going to wear...
and then the big question..
WHO GOES FIRST.. always a big debate!!

Rachel decided to go first and soon got into the swing of things, we played music from her I pod and once I'd shown her some of the photos on the camera, she knew she looked amazing and she gained her confidence.

As these are to be a gift to her husband I have had to delete him from my facebook page, I'll add him again after Christmas... Bless...

The next blog will be about Gemma, who is 23 and gorgeous and took to Boudoir like a fish to water... She was only self conscious for a couple of minutes then, wow, did we have some fun. Poor Helen was running around with all sorts of different lighting effects to get just the right pictures... What a fab Job..

Wedding Photography Blackpool

Ive had a great week...
It started on Saturday (I know Saturday isnt the conventional start to the week... but hey... I'm a Wedding Photographer..) ha ha... anyway, Saturday was my first wedding of the (busy) season. It was a privilege to photograph Clare and Paul (now Mr & Mrs Clarke) at The Great Hall at Mains...
Ian Jardine, a photographer in Manchester ( http://www.ianjardinephotography.com ) was a great asset as a second shooter... His photos are FAB!!! Thanks Ian..x
There was very little sun, and more than enough rain, but we got some good photos all the same.
Poor Paul had a sore throat, but he didn't let that stop him enjoying himself!!! Clare looked fantastic, her dress was huge, and gorgeous, she had to squeeze through the doorways... The bridesmaids looked fantastic in their beautiful lilac (that's not quite the right word, I'll post the pics and you can decide for yourselves) dresses... & the flower girls were SO cute. Everything for a perfect wedding.
Thanks to Clare & Paul for choosing Dove Photography to photograph your wedding... We all had a great day!!

I cannot post photos yet, as Clare and Paul are on honeymoon, and it wouldnt be fair if others saw their photos first...:-)
Ive spent lots of time in the office, editing the above photos... it doesnt sound too good, but I love it...
Ive completed marketing assignments, had photo shoots and finally, today have 2 viewings for Brides looking for a photographer in Blackpool. I hope next week is as good...

Baby Bump photos in Blackpool

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Megan and Jordan with their baby bump

(due yesterday... get a move on Megan, I want to take baby photos :-)).

I haven't yet got permission from Megan to show her photos, so I'm showing some I took earlier......

Baby Bump photos can be taken at your home either with your partner, other children or alone... or you can have somebody like your mum or your friend with you if you like...

Relaxed photos taken by a woman photographer (me) which is always good.

I have had 4 children of my own (in 4 years..I know...I was busy) and know how it feels to be huge and a little bit self conscious about your bump. Unfortunately, they didn't take baby bump pictures when I was expecting my babies, it is something fairly new, and I for one love it!!

I had the privilege of photographing the memorial for Kelvin on the anniversary of his birthday. His lovely family booked a fun golf day at Ashton Golf Centre in Lancaster as a way of celebrating his birthday. It was a great family and friends affair, with the better golfers taking the not so good golfers in teams of 3 and playing a cracking game of Texas Scramble. There were lots of discussions and tallying up of some great scores... This was finally decided by a 'put off'... In the pub (Bourne Arms Knott End) which carried on well into the night. A fitting tribute to Kelvin, and a lovely idea by his loving family.

We had a great time on the shoot, Debra came to my office where we discussed what she wanted, then we spent the next 2 hours laughing and chatting like old friends. What a nice lady.. she has a great smile and some wonderful ideas...we never stopped talking.

Welcome to the first of our e-newsletters. We hope that you enjoy reading all about what is happening at Ashton Golf Centre and that you forward this and future emails to your golfing friends and family. We have been keeping ourselves busy over the winter (the worst for 100 years apparently!!) linking up with some local and national companies to get our customers special offers on many golfy things, such as equipment, clothing and travel. In later newsletters there will be direct links to some fab websites and news items. So we can all find out what is going on in golf... off and on the course, with all your golfing favourites.

keep a look out for Tips from the Pro, which will become a regular feature in the not too distant future. Martin Lake PGA GOLF PRO, will be sharing his expertise and knowledge to help all newsletter subscribers. Helping you knock shots off your round and make the game more enjoyable. (Hopefully!!)

Despite the winter weather, work has continued on the golf course. Some of you will have already seen that part of the wall on the 6th has been removed, creating a dryer and wider access to the 7th,. We have recycled the stone on the new extended 4th Tee (....watch out ladies, Martin mentioned that now the Tee is bigger he is putting the ladies tee behind the pond as well.) The tee has been taken right to the edge of the pond and we think it looks great, all it needs now is turfing, but it is a little early yet. We are all really pleased with the condition of the course for this time of year and now with a little winter sunshine, have seen more and more of you venturing out, which is great.

There is so much on offer at Ashton, that you can really prepare yourself for the forthcoming golf season. Stuart is available for private lessons on the course or on the range. Why not get a few friends together and kick start your golfing season by taking a golf lesson?
How is your golf equipment looking?? Come along to the Golf Centre and get your grips checked out. You'll be amazed what a difference a re-grip can make to your clubs. It's like getting a new set of clubs for a fraction of the price. Prices are from £5 per club, and can make a huge difference to your game.

Valentines Day Presents... Blackpool Boudoir sessions

I'm very good at suggesting things for others to do, but hold back on myself. However, I have actually tried Boudoir photography.. FROM THE OTHER SIDE lol.
I went to my friends last year, and she and her husband (both photographers) put me through my paces to show how easy/hard it is. I chose to put myself in an 'uncomfortable' postition, by letting both of them take photos, it would have been so easy to stay in my comfort zone with just Louise, but I wanted to experience this from a customers perspective!! As you can imagine, its not too easy getting your kit off in front of your friend and her husband, but, I did! They were fab, put me at my ease, and once we got to taking the photos, I forgot my embarrassment and just got into 'the flow'. I had a great time, and we got some fab photos... Not bad for a 51 year old (at the time).
Now, the reason I am telling you this (there is always a reason lol) is to make you feel at ease when you come and have your Boudoir photos taken, or have a fantastic Boudoir party at home.. I have done it... I know how it feels.. and, after a couple of awkward seconds..It feels great. The resulting photos make your confidence soar, you feel brilliant about yourself and have a new positive feel about your body image!!!
I have attached some photos of Boudoir shots, myself included for you to look at. This is the 'real you'... not photoshopped out of recognition, (unless you request it) not airbrushed to near anorexia... Photos of the you that your partner will recognise, and love.

I said it because, although I dont think I will ever be an actress, it is a great way of getting your message across to lots of people, and they can instantly tell that you are sincere. The script is not written (as such) you just talk from the heart, customers like to do business with people they know and trust..

The idea of the video is that it works well within your marketing and website, and works alongside your photo... helping to build the trust between you and your customers, and actually.. Its great fun!!!!

Hopefully, they wont ask me to do 'that' with my eyes..ha ha

Birthday Celebrations

Birthday and Christmas 2009

Christmas day was fab for so many reasons. My whole family got together at my brothers house to celebrate my mums 80th Birthday. Steve and Bev catered for over 35 people in their brilliant new kitchen, with no problem at all.. Thanks you two.
Mum had a lovely time, and some great pressies. My granddaughter celebrted her first Christmas in style, by being beautiful and sooo good.. I cant get enough of her..
My kids were fantastic considering we have moved from a massive house to a 'dolls house', we squeezed everyone in and had a marvelous time as usual... Thank goodness for families...

On Friday, I took some baby bump photos af a lovely girl who is 8.5 months pregnant, she was sooo petite. I had to take the photos, edit and print them and get them back to her by Saturday night so she could give them to her husband for fathers day...phew. All made slightly more difficult by the fact that I had an all day wedding on Saturday. Needless to say, I got it done and we were all very happy with the reuslt.
Baby bump photography is very personal, and you can show as little or as much as you like. It is taken in your own home, either with or without your partner and is great fun. Its a fab way of remembering those special days and weeks approaching the birth of your precious baby. I'm sure if they had been available when I had my babies, I would be able to look back and see how lovely I looked... Instead I remember myself as a beached whale....lol

I haven't blogged for ages (oops) and have a lot to catch up on. I photographed a fabulous wedding on 2nd May, Karen and Gav were amazingly laid back, the photos are fab, I will post them as soon as the bride and groom have seen them.

I am in Bulgaria at the moment, its really chilled, lovely weather, great company, little children laughing (and fighting lol) a great way to bring you back to earth and make you realise the important things in life. We have picnicked in a field next to the village spring, gone to the local market and perused the home grown (organic) produce. We even bought eggs which were sold singly and put loose in a carrier bag lol. A new friend Valya showed us around the market, negotiated the prices and generally showed us 'the ropes'.

Babies are in the news in my family this week, my beautiful daughter is expecting her first child (and my first Grandchild) how exciting... and on Saturday I was told that my nephew Carl, and his girlfriend Katie are expecting their first baby not long after my daughters is due. On Friday I had the pleasure of photographing actress Sharon Sinclair. We were scheduled to take a couple of Black and White headshots for her portfolio, and to put on 'spotlight'. However, we had such fun, we got carried away and took loads. We had a fab hour and laughed our way through the shoot.
She was lovely, a fantastic smile, vibrant personality and a good sense of humour, which was just as well as she thought I was a bit 'nutty'.
I just love photo shoots..they are a unique experience... Every day I am so thankful to have a job that I love... lucky me!!

December Wedding

On 27th December 2008 I had the pleasure of photographing the Wedding of Gemma & Chris.
The ceremony at St Annes Parish Church, was intimate and beautiful, there were lots of Christmas trees, and the congregation and choir sang traditional Hymns and Carols, which added to the already warm feeling inside.
The bridesmaids were only little, lively and full of character as you can see in some of the photos.

I was fortunate enough to have a boudoir party in Sunderland in December, although it was a long way to travel (from Blackpool) I combined it with a trip to visit family and friends.
Kelly organised the boudoir party for her friends, a few girls dropped out as they were a bit worried about what it was all about, but as soon as they saw the photos and understood how it all worked they wanted to be included in the next party (when, hopefully it will be a bit warmer).

I am trying to catch up as I have been poorly (Aw bless) and unfortunately, the blog hasnt been kept up to date... Never mind, I'm feeling a lot better now.

I had the Beautiful unusual Goth Wedding in October, the weather was AWFUL but we still managed to get some good photos, the album is just going to print.
November saw an amazing wedding in Aberdeen..WOW!
Emma and Bryn had a fabulous Scottish Wedding at Kings College Aberdeen with a piper at the church and all the guys in Kilts!! Followed by a traditionally brilliant Scottish reception at The Maryculter Hotel Aberdeen. The pipe band was incredible, and made all the more special by Bryn joining in and playing the drum. I must say, it was a highlight of the night as his rapport with his mates shone through...
I will post some photos as soon as I have shown them to the happy couple.

Boudoir Parties have been popular, Elaine was so pleased with hers that she has given permission for some of her pictures to be posted on the website and the blog. She looks fantastic!

I am taking a couple of weeks off in the run up to Christmas so will be buzzing by the 15th (the day I return to work)... Time Flies...

I cant believe its nearly a month since I last wrote on this blog.
I've been busy with boudoir parties, First Communion pictures, some baby bump pics and a lovely wedding. I've also attended a Wedding Fayre and a Wedding Open Day at the De Vere.

I've helped edit a very special book, which was a lot harder than I thought it would be!

My time has flown by (no excuse I know) so now I'm going to catch up...

We (me, Helen and Peri) will be in our offices soon which will be great. The facilities are fab, we have a terrace to entertain Clients, and sit and have coffee and cake lol, a conference room where I can show clients their photos on a projector...YES! (lol) and of course our very own office space.

I have started my Christmas campaign by advertising with Ged Mills and www.blackpooltown.co.uk. Portraits sessions are £25 including a free 6x4 photo.

Any bookings for Boudoir Parties should be made soon as dates are booking up, Boudoir Photos are a fantastic Christmas present for yourself or your partner. You will be amazed how fantastic you feel.

High Key

I had a fab time at Mark Cleghorns 'Monkey Business Training in Stockport.
It gave me chance to have a go at High Key photography. Not something I've been too keen on in the past as I prefer Lifestyle Photography, where you are in more natural surroundings using available light. However, I can see the need for high key, and ate my words as I really enjoyed myself, and loved playing around with the results.

Boudoir Parties and Fantastic Weekend

What a brilliant weekend.

Helped by my good friend Helen, we headed off with boas, hats, all our equipment for our first party of the weekend! Thanks Helen. x

On Friday night, Kirsty celebrated her 20th Birthday by having a Boudoir Party before going out on the town in Blackpool. The atmosphere was great, and the photos were wonderful.
The girls were so good and only a little bit nervous (that added to the fun). A follow up party has been booked in CREWE... How cool is that!

Saturday saw me and Helen in Preston.

Kelly had booked her Boudoir Party as a present for her mums 50th birthday.
Bernie (mum) said Kelly always chooses unusual gifts, and was really proud.
What a fab night we had...
Bernies house was great, with some good friends and her 2 daughters, (and a few glasses of wine) we had a fantastic night.
The guests left feeling great about themselves and looking forward to seeing their photos in print (me too).

Business of the month

Today I have been to see the local 'Get Started' team
as I am about to be featured as their 'Business of the Month'.

This is lovely as, those of you who know me will know I've had a bad month due to the fact that my dad died on 22 July 2008.
His death has rocked us as a family, but also shown how strong a family unit we really are. My 5 sisters and my brother and I have supported my mum and each other throughout this sad time. My own children and my friends and colleagues have been wonderful.

Thanks to all who have contacted us with their condolences,
they are much appreciated.

To My Dad

And now, the end is near;

The Bride was beautiful, and the couple very much in love.

Summer Gala

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of taking photos of the Claremont Summer Gala.
There were all sorts of stalls, the Chinese Community gave a fantastic displays of Martial Arts dance. There was fancy dress, a Gala queen, fire engine etc. The kids had a great time, and the community spirit was amazing.

I've had a very busy few weeks...

Boring Jury service which interfered with my passion..Photography.
I couldnt even take a camera with me in case they thought I was a spy...lol.

However, as those of you who know me well will know this saying 'out of every bad thing that happens, something good will come' (I'm forever the optimist), it was a great place for networking, making new friends and getting the 'Dove Photography' name out and about.

I've had loads of enquiries about the Boudoir side of things, which is great. I LOVE making women feel good about themselves, and the Boudoir shoots do just that. The BRIDAL boudoir is a fabulous gift for your man on your wedding day, I kind of got all soppy when I was writing for the website...lol.

Yesterday I did my first Wedding Fayre. Although not particularly well attended, the people I did speak to were lovely, and it was all part of the learning curve. The canvas was popular, and I now know how to set up my table with minimum fuss :)
The sweets didnt go on the table, but were eagerly shared by myself, Perri and a couple of other exhibiters.... Ooops, there goes the diet :(

I have sent away for more albums to display, so should have more material for the Norbreck fayre in May.

I have recently had the pleasure of photographing my 1st Asian Wedding...WOW!

Thank-you to Hazra and Moshin and their fabulous families for inviting us to join in the celebrations whilst taking the photos, we, my son (assistant) Louise (2nd shooter) Pete (3rd shooter) and myself were fed and watered as if we were wedding guests, the hospitality was amazing!

It was a 3 day affair (for me) starting on Thursday evening with the girls getting together for the henna treatment. Again, fed and watered and well looked after, I left the venue with lots of photos.

Saturday saw the beautiful white dress and the feeding of over 360 guests by the brides family at the DE-Vere hotel Blackpool. The reception room was magnificent, and the chocolate fountain (my favourite) out of the this world.
The fairground for the children, the ice sculpture, and the yummy choc fountain all made for a truly original day.

Sunday was the turn of the grooms family, and the feeding of seemingly a never ending stream of friends and relatives, and what a colorful affair that was.

The grooms mum couldn't stop smiling, and the atmosphere was terrific.
I can only show some of the 'flowery' photos until the couple return from their honeymoon, but, rest assured, the photos are fantastic, and will look amazing in the beautiful album chosen by Hazra.

Today I have had a bit of a re-vamp of my website.

Gone is the Pink and Blue writing (which I personally liked), in with Silver and Black (how sophisticated). This is to tie in with my new stationary, and 'corporate' colours of cream and black with silver (or pink) (I love pink).
I have so many ideas for this business...my head hurts... ha ha, thats my excuse to wrap up for now, and get in my jim-jams and have a hot chocolate.

Networking and Coffee

Had a great day today with my friend Peri, from Peri Designs (Bespoke stationer).
Firstly we were networking with Linzie at The De Vere Blackpool . We came up with some great ideas for future wedding events whilst drinking copious amounts of coffee.
We then booked ourselves into 2 wedding fayres later this year, went to Ribby Hall to discuss weddings (one of my favourite subjects) and had lunch and more coffee... Oh how I I love Networking....

I recently attended a Annabel Williams Contemporary Photographic Training Course. Its a great place to meet up with like-minded people, swap ideas and update your skills at the same time. The energy at the CPT is infectious, and I came away Inspired (wow).I made many friends, and updated a few techniques which are now incorporated in my Lifestyle Photography.
Here are a few pictures of a Russian Couple, they were lovely, and didn't seem to mind getting bossed about by 8 of us (very brave).

Today I have decided to update this blog, I had actually forgotten I had made one which isn't clever. I am so new to blogging, I don't know if its etiquette to put lol, or better to just :)...

My wedding bookings are doing well, and I am really excited about my first Asian wedding in April.
The reception is for 400 people, at the lovely De-Vere hotel, lets hope Its a nice day.

Now the weather is improving, I am offering a lifestyle photo-shoot for £25 (save £75 sitting fee) which includes a framed 7 x 5 print........ A bargain if I say so myself......

The plan is to step up the portrait side of the business and get the Dove Photography name out and about around Blackpool and Lancashire.

How it works.

Firstly, I meet you at your home, and we get to know each other, if you have children, (especially teenagers) it gives them chance to get used to having someone new around, so they are more relaxed. After a cup of tea and a chat, we will head off to a location close by, your garden maybe, the park, or your favourite place. If the children become tired or we are flagging, we could return for another brew, and then go somewhere different,

it’s amazing what a little break can do.

Two or three changes of clothes are recommended, and it’s best if the whole family wears coordinated outfits i.e. all wear jeans and a nice top, or shorts and t shirts etc

It can take a full morning/afternoon on location, so allow plenty of time, we don’t want to rush you, just take beautiful photographs as they arise. If it’s cold, wrap up warm, some great images can be had by heading off for some fun on a cool brisk day.

Once the lifestyle shoot is over, we will go away and process your wonderful images. About a week later, we will make an appointment to come to your home and project the images for you to see.

You choose your 7" x 5" framed portrait, all for an introductory offer price of just £25 (usual price £100).
